Carol has been a vegan for a few years now, and, being a knitter, one of the things she struggles most with is using wool and other animal fibers. Any well-behaved vegan will tell you that the way sheep and other animals used in the mass-production of wool are treated is not very nice. At all. But Carol loves working with and wearing these natural animal products. One way she thought might be a way around it would be to recycle wool from previously-loved garments. Buying second-hand means not directly contributing to an unsustainable, often cruel industry. And, the way Carol sees it, the animal lost its dignity and maybe its life to give someone a little warmth and beauty, so why not honor that animal by not letting its offering hang on a rack somewhere or end up in a landfill? All Carol’s products are carefully sourced, unravelled, washed in a gentle, cruelty-free soap, and air-dried flat. They are then wound into convenient centre-pull beautiful little cakes of vegan wooly goodness. Now, if only she could find some bees that won’t mind giving up some of their hard-earned honey…
